Cancer or malignant neoplasm is a class of diseases that occur due to uncontrolled division of cells leading to invasion of adjacent tissues causing metastasis. Psoriasis is non contagious chronic condition affecting the skin and is suspected to be of autoimmune origin.

Cancers are caused due to changes in the genetic material of cells brought about by carcinogens (tobacco, smoke, chemicals, radiation), infectious agents (virus, bacteria), heredity, immune system malfunction, hormonal imbalances.
Psoriasis is believed to be occur due to presence of a genetic component. It can also occur as a result of prolonged skin injury. Psoriasis can be aggravated by factors such as stress, smoking, alcohol consumption and withdrawal of systemic corticosteroid.

Signs and symptoms of cancer care divided into three groups: local symptoms such as unusual swelling or lumps, bleeding, pain, ulceration, jaundice; symptoms of metastasis or spreading are enlarged lymph nodes, bone pain, neurological symptoms, cough, hemoptysis; systemic symptoms like weight loss, fatigue, poor appetite, anemia, night sweating etc.
Psoriasis presents itself as red, scaly skin patches. There is excessive skin production in these patches and these occur on elbows, knees, scalp, feet, palm, genitals and soles. Symptoms can be easily confused with those of eczema.

Cancers are of many types, classified on the basis of origin of tumor. Thus there is:
- carcinoma – cancer of breast, lung, colon, prostate;
- sarcoma – cancer of connective tissue and mesenchymal cells;
- lymphoma – cancer of blood forming cells;
- germ cell tumor – cancer of ovary and testicle and
- blastoma occurring in children.
Clinically psoriasis is classifies into pustular and non pustular psoriasis. Psoriasis is also classified based on symptoms like plaque psoriasis, flexural psoriasis, guttate psoriasis, nail psoriasis, erythrodermic psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis.

Cancer treatment is done through chemotherapy, surgery, radiation therapy, immuno therapy, monoclonal antibody therapy depending on location and stage of tumor. Psoriasis is managed by a variety of therapies like cognitive behavior therapy, photo therapy, photo chemotherpay, topical treatment and systemic treatment.
Cancer affects people irrespective of their age and risk increases with age. Psoriasis is seen in both sexes and can occur at any age. It is found to make its first appearance commonly in patients between 15 and 25 years of age.
