Differences in External Features
The MacBook has a polycarbonate enclosure with a nonslip coating, and is 1.08 inches thick; whereas the MacBook Pro has a seamless body made of aluminium and is 0.95 inch thick. MacBook comes with a 13-inch screen whereas MacBook Pro comes in three screen sizes:13-inch, 15-inch and a 17-inch screen. The MacBook Pro also weighs lighter than the MacBook at 4.5 pounds, whereas the latter weighs 4.7 pounds.
The keyboard design is more advanced in MacBook Pro with a backlight whereas the MacBook keyboard has no backlight. The multitouch trackpad in MacBook Pro is also more advanced than in MacBook.
The finish of the screen in the 2 models also differs in that MacBook Pro has a more matte finish compared to the MacBook which has a glossy finish.
Processors in MacBook vs MacBook Pro
The MacBook and the 13 and 15-inch MacBook have a battery life that lasts for 7 hours after a single charge whereas in the 17-inch MacBook Pro, the battery life is 8 hours after a single charge.
RAM and Hard Drive
MacBook has RAM options of 2GB and 4GB, and a 250GB or 500 GB 5400-rpm hard drive, whereas the MacBook Pro has a RAM options of 4GB and 8GB and a hard drive of up to 500GB 7200-rpm. The MacBook Pro also offers an upgrade to SSD hard drives, which the MacBook does not.
The MacBook is priced at USD 999, whereas the MacBook Pro starts from USD 1199 and up, depending on the model.
