Amitabh Bachchan was born on 11 October 1942 in the city of Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh) to Hindu parents. His father Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan was a well-known Hindi poet. Amitabh's mother is a Sikh, Teji Bachchan, from Karachi, Pakistan. Shahrukh Khan was born on 2 November 1965 to parents of Pathan ethnicity. Khan's family was Muslim, his father Taj Mohammed Khan was a freedom activist and mother Lateef Fatima was the adopted daughter of Major General Shah Nawaz Khan of the Janjua Rajput.
While Amitabh is the older out of two children, his younger brother is named Ajitabh; Shahrukh Khan is the younger of the two siblings, his elder sister being Shehnaaz.
Education
Bachchan has a double M.A. (Master of Arts) degree. He attended Allahabad’s Jnana Prabodhini, followed by Nainital’s Sherwood College, where he majored in the art stream. He later went on to study at Kirori Mal College in Delhi University earning a degree in science. Shahrukh Khan attended St. Columba’s School in Delhi where he was accomplished in sports, drama and academics.He later attended Hansraj College (1985-1988) to earn an Honors degree in Economics. After this, he studied for a Masters Degree in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia University.
Career
Amitabh Bachchan started his career in the Indian film industry in 1969 with a multistarrer Saat Hindustani and Shahrukh Khan debuted in 1991 in the movie Dil Aashna Hai. Though Amitabh had been doing fairly well, his big break came with Prakash Mehra's Zanjeer in 1973, it also gave him the legendary image of the Angry Young Man. Before entering bollywood Shahrukh Khan acted in television serials namly Circus and Fauji and also starred in a tele-film In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones. In 1995 he starred in Aditya Chopra'sdirectorial debut Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge which was a critical and commercial success and is one of the biggest hindi film blockbusters.
Amitabh Bachchan has given many blockbusters to the Indian Film Industry like Don, Trishul, Laawaris, Deewar and many many more but his biggest hit till date would be 1975’s Sholay.

In 1996 he floated his entertainment company, Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd. Under ABCL he produced 6 movies before 2000 (such as Tere Mere Sapne and Mrityudaata) none of which did well at the Box office.The company was launched again by Amitabh Bachchan in 2001 as A B Corp. The company then went on to produce hit films such as Paa in 2009 Directed by R Bali and Viruddh. The company has also signed a deal with Reliance BIG Entertainment.[1] The latest Hit Is Buddah Hoga Tera Baap.
Amitabh has also been the playback singer for a few of his movies. Shahrukh Khan has done 62 movies till November 2007 in various roles. In 1999 he set up a production company Dreamz Unlimited with fellow actress Juhi Chawla and director Aziz Mirza, which produced 3 films. In 2004 he set up another company Red Chillies Entertainment which has produced 4 films till now (2007). Like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh has also sung a few of his songs and also been the stunts director in a few of his films.

Amitabh's debut movie, Saat Hindustani earned him the National Film Award for the Best Newcomer. After that he won 2 more National Film Awards for Best Actor in 1991 for Agneepath and in 2006 for Black. He also has to his name 4 International Indian Film Academy Awards, 3 Bollywood Movie and Zee Cine Awards each, 4 Star Screen and Stardust Awards. Besides these he has had many other awards and honors showered upon him. In July 1999, Amitabh Bachchan was named the "Greatest Star of the Millennium" by BBC online poll where he defeated many Hollywood legends. Shahrukh Khan has won 10 Filmfare Awards, 7 Starscreen Awards, 2 IIFA Awards fof Best Actor for the movies Veer Zaara and Devdas. He has also bagged 6 Zee Cine Awards, 4 Bollywood Movie Awards and 2 Global Indian Film Awards. He also won the V Shantaram Award for the Best Actor for the film Chak De India in 2007. In 1997 he won the Best Citizen of India Award, in 2002, the Rajiv Gandhi Award for Excellence in the Field of Entertainment and in 2005, the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award from the Government of India. Khan's life-size wax statue is available in Madame Tussauds wax museum, London, installed in April 2007. Political Career
In 1984, Amitabh took a break from acting and briefly entered politics in support of long-time family friend, Rajiv Gandhi. He contested Allahabad's Parliament seat and won his MP candidacy by the highest victory margin ever for a parliamentary candidate in Indian history. His political career, however, was short-lived: He resigned after three years, leaving his term incomplete. His old friend Amar Singh (politician, Samajwadi Party) helped him during a financial crisis due to the failure of his company ABCL. Therefore Bachchan started to support Amar Singh's political party. Jaya Bachchan joined Samajwadi Party and became a Rajya Sabha Member. Shahrukh Khan does not have any political exposure.
